Staying in Casablanca

Casablanca is Morocco's economic capital and the city where travellers most often stay for business, for a night before a flight, or for a family weekend on the Atlantic. It is not a city of riads: the hotel offer is made up mainly of business hotels, large international chains, aparthotels and simpler addresses around the centre. Before booking, the main question is which district you will spend your days in, because the city is spread out and traffic can be heavy at rush hour.

The city centre, around Place Mohammed V and Boulevard Mohammed V, gathers the Art Deco buildings, cafés and shops, with easy access to the tram. Towards the ocean, the Aïn Diab Corniche and the Anfa district attract families and more relaxed stays, with hotels facing the sea. The shopping district of Maârif and the Sidi Maârouf business hub, near the motorway, complete the picture. The Hassan II Mosque, the old medina and the Habous quarter remain the must-see visits, easy to reach by taxi from most hotels.

Questions about Casablanca

Is it better to stay in the city centre or on the Aïn Diab Corniche?

The centre for business, the tram and sightseeing on foot; the Corniche for the sea, the pool and family stays. The two are linked by taxi, but allow for traffic at rush hour.

Where should I stay for a layover or a meeting near Mohammed V Airport?

The Sidi Maârouf area and the hotels located near the airport are the most practical, with the motorway next door and the train to the centre. If you have a free evening, the city centre is still reachable by taxi.
